We were able to get away for a few days from the craziness of city life and take a trip to the Mediterranean. Some dear friends came with us from the states and spent LOTS AND LOTS of TIME with our children. They taught them stories, songs, games, made many crafts with them and LOVED on them. It was a breath of fresh air in more ways than one! The last night the kids performed for the adults all that they had learned from the week. They even brought new clothes and shoes for the kids, presents for the parents and U.S. snacks!! Yummy! Thanks so much guys for EVERYTHING!!! YOU ARE AWESOME!!

Wow, I hope I can bring my girls one day to love on some kiddos overseas - what an awesome time. I also read your post about the trip to Garbage City - I'm so intrigued by what in the world a "garbage city" is!!
I'm really enjoying reading your blog during my girls' naptime!!
Shannon,
Thanks for keeping up with the blog! Glad I don't do all of this for nothing! There are a few "garbage cities" within our city. It is really famous in most books about Egypt. Anyway, it is famous but sad. All of our trash from our city goes to this area. These people live in filth as there is no room for all of the trash. Their homes and streets are filled with garbage. They are looked on as dirty people. There is a recycling center that was started several years ago and this is where we like to go and love on the girls as they learn a trade and buy some of their items from them to help their income!
